I love eating rice balls. Making them, not so much. My Neanderthal hands always produce boulders as opposed to balls, which gives me major appreciation for this hinoki rice ball mold! Produce onigiri quickly and effortlessly, with the added conus of a light fragrance from the hinoki wood! Set it against a cutting board, pack it halfway, add your filling, then top it off and press with the cover.
Before the first use, soak in water with a splash of vinegar for one hour. For subsequent uses, soak the mold in water for 5 minutes before use. After each batch of onigiri, wet the inside lightly to prevent sticking. Wash by hand and air dry, never put it in the dishwasher.
